Transforming Presentations with AI Tools

Transforming Presentations with AI Tools

Ever find yourself spending more time wrestling with slide layouts than actually crafting your message? You’re not alone.

If you present regularly, chances are you’ve been trapped in bullet point overload more than once. The average 20-slide presentation can contain anywhere from 60 to 100 bullet points. While they’re not inherently bad, they are, let’s face it, boring. They also break up the flow and force us to think in disconnected fragments, instead of seeing the bigger picture.

The good news? AI tools and modern presentation platforms are changing the game. Inspired by TED-style storytelling and powered by smart design, we’re seeing a shift toward cleaner visuals, stronger narratives, and the “one idea per slide” philosophy. It’s faster, more impactful – and a lot more fun.

AI-powered presentation tools are taking the hard work out of slide creation. They can instantly generate clean, on-brand layouts, suggest visuals that match your content, and structure your ideas into a clear, logical flow.

Some even go a step further – adapting the tone and complexity of your message for different audiences, whether you’re speaking to the board, clients, or a group of trainees.

In this blog, we’ll share some of the top-rated AI-powered presentation tools – and how they can help streamline both content creation and slide design. But we’ll also look at the flip side: the potential pitfalls of leaning too heavily on automation and forgetting the most important ingredient in any presentation – you.

The Challenges of Traditional Slide Creation

Creating a presentation from scratch can be frustrating and time-consuming, especially if design isn’t your strong suit. Slides often end up cluttered, inconsistent, or off-brand. When sourcing visuals feels like a chore, it’s tempting to default to text-heavy content, which can quickly drain the energy from your deck.

Things get even messier with multiple contributors: missed edits, conflicting versions, and a parade of “final_final_v3” files.

And that’s just once you’ve started. Without a clear objective or structure from the outset – a common roadblock we see time and again in our workshops – the whole process becomes much harder than it needs to be.

How AI Makes Presentation Creation Smarter

Whilst AI takes the hassle out of creating presentations, it doesn’t negate the need for you to generate the ideas and content in the first place. And the reality is that there is no substitute for your knowledge, expertise, and experience. However, AI can be helpful in filling in the gaps, saving time on research, and streamlining your thoughts.

Top AI Tools for Creating Presentations

If your experience with AI tools is limited or you don’t quite know where to start, here’s a handy guide to some of the top-rated presentation tools and what they offer. There are plenty more, so it’s worth doing your homework to see if a platform is tailored to your industry or category.

AI-Powered Presentation Tools You Should Know

Canva Magic Design is a flexible, beginner-friendly tool with templates enhanced by AI and is ideal for users with limited design skills. It features an intuitive drag and drop function for uploading brand assets and content, and speeds up creation by suggesting layouts, imagery, and styles that align with the subject and your brand. It also allows for real-time collaboration, making it easy for teams to collaborate on a presentation. Whilst great for relatively simple design needs, this may fall short if you are looking for complex, highly detailed design options.

There is a basic, free plan or a pro plan, starting at around £11 per month, which offers premium template options, text-to-image capabilities, and collaboration features.

Beautiful.ai automates slide formatting, ensuring the slides are professional-grade and cohesive for businesses. It includes a variety of templates and pre-designed layouts allowing users to build tailor-made presentations quickly. Teams can collaborate in real-time by integrating tools like Dropbox and Slack. It also has an extensive asset library. Users can access viewer analytics, including engagement levels to assess message delivery, helping to refine and improve future presentations.

New users of AI-powered tools may find it a little more challenging to grasp the advanced features. Prices for individual use start at around £9 per month.

Tome, a sales and marketing platform, integrates content creation and storytelling techniques to create seamless, visually appealing presentations. Users input prompts to generate structure guidelines and content suggestions. A range of templates suitable for different presentation styles (such as pitching, marketing plans, sales, and so on) align with particular objectives. External content can be easily imported through integration with other tools. The platform also allows for real-time collaboration and provides audience analytics.

The templates restrict extensive customisation, so users are essentially limited to the ones available. It also takes time to learn how to fully leverage all of the platform’s capabilities. There is a basic free plan without AI, and professional plans start at around £12 per month.

Gamma generates structured content and entire presentation decks, documents, and web pages from just a few prompts. The platform uses a card system to simplify complex ideas into manageable chunks, improving presentation clarity and flow. The visual style of the presentation can be changed with one click, allowing users to compare different styles and themes easily. Teams can collaborate simultaneously and the platform integrates Microsoft and Google tools to enable users to easily import content. It also features in-built audience analytic tools to track engagement.

However, extensive template customisation is restricted, and new users experience a relatively steep learning curve. Gamma works on a credit system for its AI features, which can be purchased.

Pitch is designed for collaborative presentation creation and uses AI, based on a set of keywords and prompts, to assist in developing the content for the presentation. There are over 100 customisable templates tailored for specific uses. It can support simultaneous editing and features audience engagement tracking tools and insights.

The free version for up to 5 members offers basic functionality with a user-friendly interface, although mastering the advanced features can take some time. Plans with advanced features for professional teams start at £15 per month.

What to Look Out For

Most AI driven platforms state that your content is private and not shared with other users. But it’s important to read the small print if you upload sensitive or proprietary information.

Some platforms use your content to improve AI modelling unless you opt out. This doesn’t mean that specific data is necessarily shared with other users, but AI may learn from the aggregated user input and pass generic information onto other users. The safest option is to opt out of data sharing, usually only available as part of a paid plan. Always check the platform’s terms on data ownership, training usage, and third-party sharing – and don’t upload confidential information unless you are confident it will stay private.

Tips for Effectively Using AI Tools

It’s vital to get the right balance between the human touch and AI efficiency. AI is great for some of the heavy lifting – research, structure and layout – but there is no substitute for a presentation that sounds like you! It’s important to include your own stories, ideas, insights and opinions, to ensure your presentations are credible, relatable, and authentic. If in doubt, ask yourself ‘Is this something I could or would say?’ If it isn’t then don’t include it.

Think of AI-powered platforms as a tool to enhance the clarity and creativity of your presentations. So, avoid the temptation to add complexity to your message or flashy over-automation to your slides.

It’s important to check that tone of voice of the content is in keeping with your company’s brand personality, and that the language ‘on brand’. Also is the visual style, logo placement, colour, and fonts consistent? And, above all, does it reflect the goals of your presentation, and does it feel right for your audience?

Finally, sometimes AI can get it wrong. So always fact-check any data that you use, and edit with care. If you come across something doesn’t sound right then make sure you do your own research. Presenting misinformation or incorrect information can have serious consequences.

The Future of Presentations is AI-Driven

If you haven’t already tried out AI-powered presentation tools, now is the time to start and wave goodbye to the hassle of creating manual slide decks. AI-powered presentation tools are a more creative and efficient way to design and build decks, leaving you more time to focus on the narrative and your delivery.

Most platforms offer a free trial period, so set aside some time to experiment with a few options and find the one that works best for you. It is a smarter way of working.
